Sometimes you find such a FANTASTIC find while thrifting that you can’t help but want to tell everybody! That’s how yesterday’s thrift outing was for me. Not only did I hit a big sale at the Salvation Army and get a bag full of goodies for only $2.73, but I found this gorgeous mister waiting for me at Goodwill:

…needless to say, I grabbed it and ran like a banshee to the checkout counter. I even had two people stop me to admire it. To sweeten the deal, it was only (drumroll….) $9.99. #goodwillGOLD
I love coming across a painting that reminds me of a time in my life, or of something beautiful I’ve seen with my own eyes.
Today, it was this gorgeous illustration:
Back in 2009, I was camping near Ashland, OR. Around sunset, I looked back towards Mt. Shasta and snapped these photos:

Reminiscent, no? The colors are true to the sunset of that evening.
Nature truly is majestic, and I admire those who can capture it through art. This illustration is definitely going on my wish list.

I ran across this quote from Ira Glass a few months ago. I can’t find who the typographical artist is, but if you happen to know, please email me so I can give credit.
Ira’s poignant insight hits home with so many artists, writers, storytellers, and creative minds all over the world. I think most of us have several different souls inside of us, just waiting for an opportunity to emerge…maybe a painter, a writer, a designer or a musician soul, waiting for you to give it a chance. I know I have many, so it’s time to push past this lull and reach for the next level. This won’t be my first and only lull. We should expect many more if we wish to continue growing.
On another note, I’ve learned that blogging is fun. Really fun. My blogger soul thanks me.
This place will be hoppin’ soon, so be ready.
So, like everyone else, I’m ridiculously addicted to Pinterest. After browsing for hours, no…probably days over the past year or so, I had a couple of questions:
The first similar site I ran across was Wanelo. After a little more digging, I ran across Dribbble, which then led me to this wonderful link -
A group of immensely talented artists take our phrase submissions and turn them into the beautiful type-crafted posters that we all love so much.
We submitted a few phrases…watch for “I love you, so absolutely”, and “What’s all the TYPE about?” Hopefully they’ll choose one or both of these to make all fancy and pretty!
It’s worth your time to check it out, and worth your dollars to support!
because sometimes I drive into our driveway, and am greeted by these beauties!

Our neighbor owns a few horses and boards several more on a regular basis. They graze the pasture in the background mostly…except when they roam up our driveway and into our yard.
Even growing up in Texas, I never was around horses, other than the occasional guided ride during summer camp. I’m now lucky enough to get to be around them all the time! Of course, it’s all fun and games until they start chomping down on my summer garden. That’s when you’ll hear me singing a different tune.
But for now, it’s February and I am enjoying the scenery they bring <3
from Wordpress to Tumblr! Just <3 the layouts and modern edge. More to come!
reculturey [def.]: [culture] changes[re-] here[-y]
The Reculturey is a collective of lifestyle changing habits for those who are no longer satisfied with the overwhelming indulgence, greed, selfishness, laziness and judgmental pretense which our culture has alarmingly deemed acceptable.
We believe in self-sufficiency, minimalism, and homesteading, open-mindedness, a sense of self and being grounded, adventure, travel and the allure of the unknown, art and endless creation, kindness, love and compassion.
We believe in seeking the happy medium.
We believe that our culture must change, and that here is a good place to start.
